I have here a few ballads in AABA song form as well as an SATB choral piece intended as an encore. Finale can’t sing, so the audio is either an instrument or oohs and ahs. Hopefully, I’ll round up some singers and redo these. Or maybe Finale will learn to sing.
Thank You for Coming
This SATB score is intended as an encore or closing piece. It is an upbeat closer.
The score can be “customized” to incorporate the name of the choral group. For example, for the Loony Tune Singers, measures 13, 14, 20, and 21 would change and the score would look this:
I had an assignment to compose a ballad and a folk song. By ballad, my composition teacher meant something from the 20th century, like “Misty” or “As Time Goes By.” (Wouldn’t that be nice!) What I ended up doing was writing three ballads all using roughly the same harmonic progression: a folk song ballad, a more modern one, and a new-age one.
A Ballad, Begorrah
A “nineteenth century” Irish ballad, with words. A sad beginning, but a happy ending! But my music software won’t do words, so until I find a willing Irish Tenor, I am substituting a flute.
Here a piano only version, intended as piano solo, useful for stretching out the song, etc.
Here’s a version with a flute as lead and a piano accompaniment.
Here a version with the piano accompaniment only, should you wish to sing along. (Or better still, record it, and I put it up.)
Make the World Great Again
Can we ever stop acting like a gang of destructive idiots?
Feelings I Never Knew
A more 20th century ballad. It’s missing a few lyrics. I keep waiting for the lyric angel to powder them with her magic dust.
